Information about North Seattle Community College undergraduate courses, registering in a technical degree program to develop job skills, or just learning how to make extra money online. Instructors typically make some of their academic research available online. In addition, they may have real-world business experience, depending on their background. Online education can open up the opportunity to take difficult courses that won't show up on your transcript, if you so choose. Alternatively, you can complete additional credits for a grade.

A few simple steps will help you start your own e-Commerce business. Doing business online is a great option to supplement your income while still a student. By registering a domain name, pointing the name servers to your hosting company, then building an active website in HTML or via a WordPress template, you're in the game. Similar to magazine page layout, website design includes the fields of graphic design, copywriting, and search engine optimization (SEO). Success is governed by two factors, visitor traffic and online sales conversions. There are many search engines which offer pay per click (PPC) advertising, with Google Adwords being the most popular.

Online Courses - MOOCs

North Seattle Community College pagenameThere are over 6,500 accredited colleges and universities in the United States, which collectively enroll over 15 million students, granting two million bachelors degrees a year. Pursue your career interests, not high-paying starting salaries, and your overall job earnings will reflect the enthusiasm that you bring to your work, increasing over time as you gain business experience. If you focus your prospective degree choice on salary alone, there is the risk that you may suffer early signs of burnout, and be forced to change careers.

Technical training programs are a low-cost alternative to attending college, and you might end up earning a lot of money as a highly-skilled, technical consultant, or by starting your own small business. Massive Open Online Courses are known as MOOCs, and offer a variety of learning platforms, utilizing cloud-based software and Google apps.

An online degree may be just as marketable as a college degree earned on campus. Udemy online learning, a site which allows anyone to build (or take) online courses, is a new startup with backing from the founders of Groupon. Khan Academy now offers over 3,900 micro-lectures available via YouTube. Coursera, another online-learning software platform, has millions of enrolled students around the world. Through MIT Open Courseware online classes, educators can improve development of their curricula, making their instruction more effective.

Technical Degree Programs

While some fields insist that you have a four-year degree just to get a job interview, other high-paying careers like computer programming, health care, or small business administration, may be entered with an associates degree. An associates degree is a two-year program that either results in an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree. Further, many varied careers are available to people who hold associates degrees. The greatest downside to an associates degrees in the job market is only that you will be competing with individuals holding bachelors degrees. Therefore, make sure you're comfortable in the niche you've chosen.

There is indeed a shortage of nurses, but please be aware that the education required is very challenging. Community colleges offer an Associate of Science degree in Nursing, and some diploma programs also award certificates in practical nursing. Nurse training can take a long time to complete, based on your ability to learn, and whether you are able to attend nursing school full-time. A licensed vocational nurse (LVN) may provide basic patient care and perform tasks that do not require advanced nursing skills. They cannot administer medication, or provide IV (intravenous) therapy. Review your knowledge of anatomy on this page. After you begin work, the hospital or clinic that you are working for may offer tuition assistance to help attain an advanced degree.

Although the cost of tuition has risen for most 4-year colleges and universities, community colleges and trade schools remain an affordable option for those looking to earn an associates degree. The average community college student graduates with only a few thousand dollars in debt, compared to bachelors degree graduates. This means that associates degree recipients are likely to see a return on their investment sooner than those with a bachelors degree. If you're planning on transferring to a four-year program, an associates degree program can be a good idea. You can save money for the first two years of your education by studying at a local community college, but ultimately receive your bachelors degree from a four-year university.

Advanced Placement exams are offered in a variety of physical sciences, offering you college credit for honors-level classes that you have taken while still in high school. Test yourself with practice exams online, before visiting the College Board website to register to take your actual AP Tests. If you earn a score of 3 or higher on an AP Exam, you may be able to receive course credits or advanced placement, when you start college. You must request that the College Board send your official AP score report to the colleges of your choice, either at the time of testing or afterwards, through a score report request.

Nursing & Medical Job Listings

Earning a CNA degree (Certified Nursing Assistant) is the first step towards becoming a fully-qualified nurse. Most CNA programs can be completed within a few months, allowing you to join the workforce quickly. The next step in a nursing career is to become a LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) or LVN ( Licensed Vocational Nurse). These are year-long programs, in which you'll work under an RN distributing meds, treating wounds, and providing basic patient care.

In order to become an RN (Registered Nurse), a bachelors degree in nursing is recommended. RN's command a greater salary, and are responsible for an enlarged scope of practice over LPNs and CNAs. Students will receive classroom instruction and clinical training in a hospital setting. A 4-year BSN program allows students to further specialize in the areas of pediatrics, geriatrics and mental health. After completing your nursing education, you must be licensed by the state in which you'll be practicing, given that state boards of nursing each have specific certification requirements.
